Manufacturing website creation: 7 tips to connect product introductions to quotation inquiries

First, show the information that the purchasing manager believes “can be entrusted to this company.”

Key points to check first

The role of a manufacturing website does not end with listing equipment. The key is to explain the scope of production and transaction terms, and to safely deliver the materials needed for the estimate.

Purchasing managers look at production availability first rather than company introduction.

It is difficult to make an ordering decision based solely on the phrase “precision machining specialist company.” Purchasing managers narrow down candidates based on material to be processed, dimensions, tolerances, quantity, and delivery location. If you cannot confirm these terms, you may want to compare other companies before calling.

Start by determining whether your main customers are research and development staff, purchasing teams, or equipment maintenance staff. Prototype buyers ask about small quantity production and drawing review, while mass production buyers ask about repeat production and inspection standards. Even in the same factory, the information emphasized on the first screen varies.

7 things to show before requesting a quote

Essential information for manufacturing products and processing pages
informationWhat buyers will check
handling materialDistinguish between material that actually matches and material that is excluded.
Processing/production rangeDescribes the process and corresponding dimensions and facility constraints.
quality checkReveals the application conditions and inspection methods of tolerances.
order quantityWe will inform you whether consultation on prototypes, small quantities, or mass production is possible.
Delivery termsDivide consultation conditions for standard schedules and emergency cases.
Delivery exampleWe introduce cases that can be disclosed focusing on items, uses, and processes.
Quotation dataWe will guide you through how to deliver drawings, materials, quantities, and desired schedule.

Do not write down the maximum performance of your equipment as a guarantee that applies to every order. Conditions that vary depending on material and shape must be explained together. Certificates are also posted after confirming possession and scope of application, and only materials with public permission are used for customer names and drawings.

Rather than putting all the products on one page, they are explained by actual items handled, such as “Aluminum Parts Processing,” “Sheet Metal Case Manufacturing,” and “Industrial Silicone Packing.” This is not a ranking based on search volume, but rather an example of search expressions that buyers might use. You can refine the page topic by first collecting product names from inquiries and existing quotations received by the sales team.

On the item page, place product photos, applicable industries, materials, production scope, inspection items, and submission methods in the same order. Rather than creating a large number of similar pages with different regional names, please fully explain products with different actual production and delivery conditions.

If you receive a drawing inquiry like this, the first consultation will be specific.

Examples of submission items are “Material: Aluminum / Quantity: 5 prototypes / Desired schedule: Negotiated / Drawings: Can be attached.” Customers who have not confirmed the material or tolerances can select “Needs review.” Even non-expert orderers should be able to make inquiries.

Attached drawings must not be made public like a general bulletin board. It is configured so that only the person in charge can view it, and the file format, capacity, and storage standards are provided. Please include language so that a separate delivery route can be negotiated for confidential materials. The submission completion screen displays the department in charge and a response schedule that you can actually keep.

If you start small, create representative products first rather than introducing the company.

If your budget is limited, we will first produce a company introduction, three representative products, equipment/inspection information, and quotation inquiries. More important than the fact that there is a lot of equipment is the configuration that shows which spells it is suitable for. If you find it difficult to take new shots, check whether your existing photos are available and add only the shots you need.

Before distribution, check whether the specification sheet and inquiry button are read on the mobile phone and whether the attached file reaches the person in charge. Instead of just counting the number of inquiries, you should separately record inquiries that contain the information needed to create an estimate and those that fit the actual scope of production to see the direction for improvement.

Checklist to organize before commissioning production

  • The production availability questions we receive repeatedly are culled from recent inquiries.
  • We collect publicly available product photos and actual specification tables for each product.
  • The person in charge confirms the scope of disclosure of certifications held and delivery performance.
  • Establish who will receive drawings, how to respond, and file storage standards.
  • Agree on the completion criteria by dividing them into “product description” and “confirmation of receipt of quotation.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it necessary to disclose product prices on a manufacturing website?

For custom processing, it is more appropriate to explain the conditions that determine the quotation rather than a fixed price. Disclosing the material, quantity, process, scope of inspection and whether drawings are required makes it easier for customers to prepare their inquiry.

Is it okay if I just upload the PDF catalog?

Use the catalog as a download material, but also include key product descriptions on the web page. You can read the specifications you need right from your mobile phone and also connect product-specific inquiry links.

What should I do if it is difficult to disclose the delivery customer?

Describe the application, manufacturing challenges, processes and inspection methods without mentioning the customer's name. You should also ensure that the customer can be identified from a photo or specification alone.

Organize product information into a website where you can get quotations and consultations.

During Blue Canvas' website creation consultation, you can review the information structure and quotation submission flow for each product. Organizing your materials first makes it easier to decide where to spend your money: filming or development.
