What kind of document is a vehicle rental agreement?

A car rental agreement is a contract that documents the terms and conditions for renting and renting a car. It is used when renting a car between individuals, when a corporation provides vehicles to executives and employees or partners, or when conducting business by renting a car, such as pick-up or cargo transportation.

What really matters in this contract is accidents rather than rent. If you do not write down whose name the insurance is for, how the driver's scope is determined, who pays the deductible, and who is responsible for fines and tolls, the relationship will end after one accident.

Even if you lend it for free, leave documentation behind. Free rental is legally closer to rental for use, but even in that case, the time of return and management responsibility must be determined. Separately from the contract, check whether the owner and lessor are the same on the vehicle registration register, and if different, check whether the owner's name is the same. warrantPlease take it.

Things you can easily miss when writing

  1. 01Before signing a contract, call the insurance company and check the driver's coverage. This comes before the contract.
  2. 02Please leave mileage and photos upon delivery. This will serve as a basis for comparison when returning.
  3. 03For fines, tolls, and parking violations, please list the person paying based on the period.
  4. 04If the vehicle owner and lessor are different, be sure to obtain a power of attorney from the owner.
  5. 05Lease and installment vehicles often have clauses prohibiting subleasing. Please check the contract before proceeding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a contract required even if I lend it for free?

You need it. Free rental corresponds to rental for use, so you only need to leave the rental clause blank. Rather, if there is no compensation, the time of return and the burden of the accident should be set in writing to avoid difficulties later.

Who is responsible if an accident occurs?

The scope covered by insurance is covered by insurance, and who bears the deductibles and damages not covered by insurance is a matter of contract. This form has a space to write down the person paying the burden. Above all, check with your insurance company first to see if the driver's scope is set to include the renter.

What about fines and tolls?

Since it is often imposed on the vehicle owner first, there are frequent disputes in practice. Write it down based on the period, such as "The lessee is responsible for fines, fines, and tolls incurred during the rental period."

How do I check the condition when returning it?

Upon delivery, write down the mileage and exterior condition in the contract and include photos. If you compare the same items when returning them, you won't have to fight about their original condition.

What if the vehicle owner is different from the lessor?

The owner's consent is required for registration. in the owner's name warrantReceive it and attach it to the contract. If it is a leased or installment vehicle, subletting is often prohibited under the contract, so you should check first.

Is what I write saved on the server?

It is not saved. The information you enter and the uploaded stamp photo are processed only within the browser, and PDF and Word files are also created on the user's device.

This is general information for guidance purposes only, and insurance treatment and accident liability will vary depending on the insurance policy and individual circumstances. If it is a commercial or land-based contract, get an expert review along with the relevant laws and regulations.
