What kind of document is the monthly business report?

A monthly business report is a document that summarizes what was done during the month and how the numbers moved. Weekly business reportIf your goal is to share progress, monthly reporting is a place to judge results against goals and set priorities for the next month.

So this form has the indicator table at the front. By placing goals, performance, and achievement rates side by side, the situation is conveyed even if the explanation is short. Below that, write down major achievements, issues, and plans for the next month.

The reason reports are long is because they usually list everything that was done. What the reader needs to know is where you are off target, why, and what to change next. Write down briefly what went well and the cause of what went wrong.

Formatting

The text is one A4 page. The reporting period and author are listed at the top, and the achievement rate is checked in the indicator table, followed by performance, issues, and plans. If you download it in Word, a page of writing instructions will be attached at the end.

Things you can easily miss when writing

  1. 01Fill in the indicators first and write the body. Once you look at the numbers, you decide what to explain.
  2. 02What's good is one line, and what's wrong is the cause. Distribute the portions like that.
  3. 03Include dates and responsibilities in your plan for next month. A list that looks like a plan is not a plan.
  4. 04Compare this month's performance with the plan from last month's report. That difference is the most useful information.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I write this differently from a weekly report?

weekly reportThe purpose is to share progress and what to do for the next week, while the monthly report is intended to determine results against goals. If you post four weekly reports as is, it will be long and not helpful in making decisions. Summarize in numbers and explain only the deviations.

What if there are no numbers to put in the indicator?

Anything that can be counted, such as the number of cases processed, response time, number of errors, or number of visitors, is an indicator. If you have never set a goal, you can compare last month's performance by putting it in the goal box.

How do you write down when performance is bad?

Don't hide the number, just write it down and then write down the cause and response. The report muddying the numbers brings back bigger issues next month. Don't just write down external blame as the cause, but include at least one thing you could have controlled.

Is it necessary to fill out the request field?

You can leave it blank, but if you need support, this is the best point to convey it. Write down specifically what you need to receive, by when, and from whom.

Is what I write saved on the server?

It is not saved. The information you enter is processed only within the browser, and PDF and Word files are also created on the user's device.

This is general information for guidance purposes, and reporting items and frequency may vary from company to company.
