Interior design company website: Building a portfolio that turns construction photos into quotation consultations

Even after customers see pretty photos, they check “Is it possible in our space?”

Key points to check first

The construction portfolio should be closer to consultation preparation material than a photo album. You can refine your inquiry by finding examples similar to the customer's space and explaining the conditions under which the scope, constraints, and budget vary.

Let them find examples that resemble the customer’s space first.

When apartment, office, store, and restaurant construction projects are mixed together on one screen, it is difficult for customers to determine whether the company is the right company for their project. Decide on your main area first and divide the case by space type, area section, and construction scope. It is more useful to quickly see the right examples rather than to say that you can work in all industries.

Examples of search expressions are “small office interior,” “cafe interior construction,” and “partial apartment remodeling.” Please describe only the construction you are actually responding to. Regional pages are also created when there are on-site conditions and examples, and do not repeat the same description with only the regional name changed.

Information to include with photos in one construction example

Constructing construction cases to help customers compare
itemWhat to explain
space and purposeDescribe the area, existing use, and reasons for construction.
scope of constructionDistinguish whether it is overall construction or a change to a specific area or facility.
site conditionsWe organize restrictions such as construction during business, restrictions on imports, and old facilities.
Choice and ReasonWe reveal why the movement lines, lighting, and finishing materials were decided that way.
photo orderDistinguish between before and after photos and detail photos of the same location.
Duration and cost conditionsExplain what is included and excluded from the schedule and budget.

Rather than just writing “finished to a high standard,” write down the customer’s request and the solution process. For example, you could describe the problem as follows: “Example: The waiting area was tight, so we adjusted entry/exit flow and seating arrangements.” In real cases, we only publish what we can confirm with field records.

Explain the terms of your quote rather than avoiding pricing questions

If there is only one line for the price per pyeong, one may misunderstand that the price includes demolition, electricity, equipment, fixtures, and signage. When disclosing the amount, please include the base point, area, material level, included work types, and excluded costs. If it is difficult to disclose the numbers, you can start by explaining the conditions for changing the cost.

The question, “How much does it cost to make it look like the photo?” requires photos of the current space, area, construction scope, and schedule. Displaying this resource next to the quote button will help your customers know what to send. Rather than forcing people to enter an unconfirmed budget, leave negotiable options.

Design the placement of photos and door locations together

The first screen of the case shows the completed photo and key conditions, and then the existing problem, design choice, process/detail, and before-and-after comparison are laid out. Include a short description of what each photo shows. If there are only a long series of photos taken of the same space from similar angles, customers will receive less information.

After reading the case, you can configure the case name to be linked to the inquiry by clicking “Consult similar space”. Reduces the need for customers to copy case addresses again. Before disclosing, check with the space owner about the scope of photo use and make sure your address, family photos, and personal items are not exposed.

Filming and production are carried out in order, starting with representative cases.

Three complete cases may be more useful in preparing for a consultation than dozens of photos without captions. In the first week, we decide on the main construction type, then collect conditions and photos for each case, and then organize customer questions and inquiries. Plan your shooting focusing on missing before-and-after comparisons or detail shots.

After disclosure, we record what types of cases generate inquiries and whether they lead to on-site consultations. Even if you have a lot of inquiries, if most of the requests are outside the service area, you need to change the area and response scope first. Changing the photo design is the next decision.

Five things to check before releasing your portfolio

  • Main space types and actual service areas are visible on the first screen.
  • Representative examples include area, scope, and schedule conditions.
  • We confirmed permission to disclose photos and whether location and personal information were exposed.
  • In the cost guide, the types of work included and separately discussed items are listed.
  • You can read cases and consult on the same cases on your mobile phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I create a website with at least a construction example?

it's possible. Fully explain the conditions and process of cases that can be disclosed, and clearly guide the consultation process and scope of construction. Photos of other companies or fictitious construction results should not be presented as actual performance.

I have a lot of photos on Instagram. Do I need another website?

SNS can be used to promote new photos, and the website can organize cases by space type, construction scope, progress procedures, and consultation materials. Start by determining whether customers’ repeated questions are resolved on social media.

Wouldn’t it be disadvantageous to disclose construction costs?

A price that describes a range is more helpful for comparison than an unconditional price. If disclosure is difficult, start by providing information on materials, construction types, and site conditions that affect the estimate, as well as materials needed for consultation.

Add a description for consultation to the construction photos.

You can organize Blue Canvas, representative construction cases, construction scope, and quote inquiry flow together. Reviewing the photos first makes it easier to distinguish between examples to highlight on the website and additional materials needed.

Good resources to prepare before consultation
Please prepare representative construction photos, construction type/area, repeated questions from customers, and current SNS and website addresses.
