01 / OVERVIEWProject Overview

Supplying parts,
preparing for flight

Saemyung ADS is a company that supplies parts and equipment from four overseas manufacturers to the domestic aerospace and defense industry. Kulite's pressure sensors have been used in domestic test sites for over 30 years and have been used as key components in KT-1, T-50, FA-50, KC-100, KUH, K2, K21, and guided weapons. Added to this are aerospace bearings from RBC Bearings, pipe repair materials from WRAP, and telemetry equipment from TTC.

In October 2026 we imagined the current site, which opened in 2013, redrawn from scratch, and proposed two scroll-driven designs. This page records what we weighed along the way.

This is the current configuration of the first screen (as of October 2026). Below one 940px wide banner, there are four product boxes, two boxes for news, a quote inquiry, and directions.
  1. 01
    The strongest sentence inside

The statement that it is a major component in KT-1, T-50, FA-50, and K2 is only in the first paragraph of the pressure sensor page. The first screen showed a banner with photos and a list of product lines, so I had to go in again to find out what kind of field this company had been working in.

  2. 02
115 data searched only by model name

60 PDFs on the pressure sensor page, 39 PDFs on the bearing page, and 16 PDFs on the piping maintenance page lead to links with the same name, such as “Download PDF.” That's enough for engineers who already know the model name, but for visitors starting out in the application field, there's no way into it.

  3. 03
    Screen in 2013, zoom blocked

The site is built on WordPress 3.6 from 2013 with a 940px wide home screen. The mobile phone screen settings contain a value (user-scalable=no) that prevents zooming, so some mobile phone browsers do not allow you to use your finger to read small specification text.

  4. 04
Address written in two different places

The addresses listed at the bottom of the home screen and on the directions page were different. It appears that only one location was fixed after the office was moved. We needed a structure where the same information could be modified in one place and reflected on all screens.

03 / TWO WAYSBoth

Down from the sky,
up from the part

The story of Saemyung ADS goes between two ends. At one end are aircraft like the KT-1 and T-50, and at the other end are the pressure sensors and bearings that go into them. The two designs tell the same story in opposite directions.

ATARGET LOCKSky → Parts

  1. Aircraft above the clouds

  5. sky
  6. About the company, over the sky
  1. SKY ↔ PART

    Distance between aircraft and parts

The aircraft is over 10 meters long, and the pressure sensor inside it is the size of your fingertip. Saemyung ADS's site had to take visitors between these two sizes.

  2. A · TARGET LOCK

    From sky to part

The first design draft starts with an aircraft above the clouds. As you scroll down, the dashboard lights up, locks on to the target, and takes you down to a scene where the bearings are being assembled. Let's start by telling you what this part is for.

  3. B · PRECISION FILM

    From part to sky

The second design idea starts with loose bearing parts. Once the parts are assembled and begin to rotate, the camera passes through the hole in the center and goes out into the sky. This is a way to show how precise the part is.

  4. OUR READING

The place where two roads meet

Both designs end up in the same place. This is because Saemyung ADS's job is to select and supply the right parts between manufacturers and flight systems. So, I decided to title this case “Between Parts and Sky.”

05 / COLORcolor

Night-sky black,
logo violet and contrail orange

Both designs used the sky after sunset as the stage. The background is dark blue, close to black, and on top of it are the purple of the logo, the orange of the horizon, and the silver of the metal parts.

The problem was the color purple in the logo. This purple color, which is clear on a white background, is only 2.4:1 on a dark background, so the logo is buried in the background.

Plate · Dark background2.4:1Failure to reach 3:1 based on image

  • Background of both proposals

It is a dark blue color close to black, where the film and instrument panel are most clearly visible.

  • Logo slab · accent on light backgrounds

This is the average value of 1,680 purple pixels in the logo GIF.

  • Logo slab on dark backgrounds

While maintaining the purple color tone of the logo, I only increased the brightness to match the dark background and white ADS letters.

  • Violet text on dark backgrounds

When using purple as text, we lighted it one level further so that the small text could be read even on a dark background.

  • Buttons · key numbers · contrails

This is an accent color taken from the sunset and engine lights. Both designs use the same values.

  • Metal · secondary text

The bearings and sensor body are silver. It is not used as a button or link color.

  1. 01Orange is only for movement and action.

Orange is used only on buttons, the most important numbers, and lines that move like contrails. The large surface is not covered with orange.

  2. 02Purple chooses a pair for each background.

On a light background, the logo purple is used, and on a dark background, light purple is used. For logos on a dark background, only the color of the plate changes to the dark background version.

  3. 03The text on the photo is on the dark side.

When placing text on sky photos and render screens, apply a dark gradient below to adhere to the text standard (4.5:1).

  4. 04Silver is only available on metal

Titanium silver is used only on parts and auxiliary letters. The silver button doesn't look like it should be pressed on a dark background.

08 / PRESSURE LABPressure lab

How pressure
becomes a number

The core of the Kulite pressure sensor is four resistors engraved on a thin silicon film. When pressure bends the membrane, the values of two resistances increase and the values of the other two decrease. A circuit (Wheatstone bridge) that connects four resistors like a bridge converts the difference into a very small voltage.

Apply pressure by moving the bar or pressing the membrane. If you select the wind and engine, the rapidly changing pressure becomes a waveform.

OUTPUT · mV100 kPa = 100 mV

The numbers are an example to illustrate the principle (supply voltage 10 V, output 100 mV at 100 kPa). Actual power and range will vary by model. Piezoresistive silicon elements are introduced as Kulite's core technology on the site's pressure sensor page.

09 / MOTIONmotion

Assemble, pass through,
read out

There are four principles of movement: If you turn on “Reduce Motion” on your device, large movements in both designs will stop and all text will be displayed on a fixed screen.

  1. 01

    Assembly

Scattered parts fall into place according to the scroll. The first design is 3D drawn in real time in the browser, and the second design involves assembling the bearings with pre-rendered film.

  2. 02

    Pass through

Go through the center hole of the part or the crosshair on the instrument panel and proceed to the next scene. It is a device that connects scenes seamlessly.

  3. 03

    Readout

Numbers like pressure and progress change like actual moving values, not just decoration. It was made to resemble the screen at the test site.

  4. 04

    Lock

Like a reticle holding onto a target, important scenes are briefly frozen on the screen, giving you plenty of time to read them.

10 / PROCESSprocedure

From the first proposal
to the second

I displayed the first design proposal on the screen and looked at it again from start to finish. I saw three things that were disappointing, and the second design started with fixing those three things.

  1. 01There was no video

The movement in the first design was all about photography and real-time 3D. In the second design, the bearings and pressure sensor are modeled in 3D and two pieces of film rendered one by one are rotated in accordance with the scroll.

  2. 02There was a blank screen after the first screen

After the first scene was finished, there was a black section before the next scene. The second design had the center hole of the bearing leading straight to the sky scene.

  3. 03The product looked small

The horizontally flowing product panel had a lot of white space above and below the screen. In the second design proposal, the four partners were changed to chapters that took up the entire screen, and each chapter was presented differently in terms of assembly, drawing, wrapping, and signal path.

Four directions
compared first

To determine the framework of the story, I first compared the four directions with the first screen sketch. Two directions became the design proposal, and the other two directions were not abandoned but moved to the device and data organization method within the design proposal.

  1. HUD

    dashboard

The direction is to use the flight test instrument panel screen as the framework of the site. The horizon, grid, and reticle lead the scene.

This was the first design draft.
  2. FILM

    3D film

This is a direction where parts are directly modeled and rendered and displayed through a scrolling film.

This is the second design proposal.
  3. DRAWING

    design drawings

The direction of technical drawings that draw cross-sections and dimension lines of parts.

Moved into the drawing scene of the RBC chapter
  4. CATALOG

    Specification Catalog

The direction of the catalog is to put the model name and specification table first.

Moved to 115 ways to organize product pages and materials

How the two films
were made

The bearings and pressure sensors in the second design are not photos, but frames modeled in 3D and rendered one by one. Because the frame that matches the scroll position is selected and drawn, the parts are assembled at the speed of the visitor.

  1. 01modeling

The outer ring, inner ring, ball, cage, sensor body, screw, membrane, and cable were modeled in a general form. It is not a copy of the manufacturer's actual drawing.

  2. 02lighting and materials

To bring out the reflection of the metal, the edges were lighted on a dark background, and the cage was painted brass.

  3. 03rendering

256 bearings and 168 pressure sensors were rendered separately for the horizontal screen, and half of them were rendered separately for the vertical screen.

  4. 04Move to the web

Change the frame to a light picture file, and for scenes where the sky is visible beyond the hole, the position of the hole is recorded for each frame and overlaps with the sky photo.

Four rules
both proposals keep

The two designs have different movements from the first screen, but the four points below remain the same. This is because no matter which design proposal was chosen, the way the site was operated had to be the same.

  1. 01Request a quote from anywhere at once

The quote inquiry button in the top menu and the last scene lead to the same place. We put up a notice saying that you only need to tell us the product name and application environment.

  2. 02Four partners follow the same framework

It shows the number, manufacturer name, product line, application, and link to the manufacturer's site in the same order.

  3. 03Data is not erased

Product pages, 115 PDFs, Notices · New Products · Manual/Report bulletin boards use the current address and administrator.

  4. 04to be able to move

On devices with Reduce Motion turned on, the film and 3D will stop and all text will be displayed in a fixed view.

Scenes without photos
were made new

Scenes of aircraft, products, and applications were newly created for this design. The ratio and focus were adjusted for each scene so that Saemyung ADS' actual photos and the manufacturer's product photos could be changed on the same spot once they were decided.

COMPAREHow are the two designs different?

Two first screens
for one company

The two designs use the same content and the same colors, but the scene they are presented to the visitor first is different. The first design proposal first shows the site where the company works with an aircraft and instrument panel, and the second design proposal first shows the precision of the parts with a 3D film. Saemyung ADS has organized the differences so you can choose according to the visitors you want to meet first on this site.
